PUTRAJAYA, 30 JANUARI 2016; PERSATUAN KANSER KanWork : Satu Program Pendidikan yang bertajuk ”Sharing Hope, Courage, Love, and Support” telah di adakan di Bilik Seminar, Hospital Putrajaya. Program ini adalah anjuran Persatuan Kanser KanWork dengan kerjasama Unit Pendidikan Kesihatan, Hospital Putrajaya. Program ini diadakan dalam dua sesi iaitu, i) ceramah dan ii) bengkel kraf. Fasilitator proram ialah Dr. Sandra Daffron, Professor Emeritus Pendidikan Dewasa, Universiti Western Washington yang juga seorang survivor kanser. Seramai 51 orang peserta yang terdiri dari survivor, sukarelawan, carer (penjaga) dan jururawat telah hadir.
Diantara pengisian ceramah ialah proses menghadapi cabaran kanser daripada diagnosis, rawatan, dan seterusnya pasca rawatan. Prof. Sandra juga telah berkongsi pengalaman bagaimana sokongan keluarga, rakan, pesakit lain serta komuniti dapat membantu dalam menangani kanser. Beliau seterusnya memberi cadangan strategi menjadikan pengalaman kanser menjadi pembelajaran yang positif.
Dalam bengkel kraf, peserta diberikan seramik dominos yang mengandungi mesej sokongan, kasih sayang dan harapan untuk pesakit/survivor kanser. Prof. Sandra memberi bimbingan dan peluang kepada peserta untuk menghasilkan rekaan seramik dominos yang menarik mengikut kreativiti masing-masing. Secara keseluruhannya, program yang dijalankan mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan dari peserta.
An educational programme titled ” Sharing Hope, Courage, Love and Support” was held at the Seminar Room Putrajaya Hospital. The programme was organised by Cancer Society KanWork in collaboration with the Health Education Unit, Putrajaya Hospital. There were two sessions: i) a talk and ii) craftsmaking. The talk was delivered by Dr Sandra Daffron, Emeritus Professor in Adult Education, Universty of Washington. A total of 51 participants comprising cancer survivors, volunteers, carers and nurses attended.
The content of the talk included the process in dealing with cancer from the diagnosis until treatment, identifying strategies to create positive lessons in dealing with cancer, and sharing cancer experiences with families, friends, other cancer patients and communities. In the craftmaking activities, the participants were introduced to the art of making ceramic dominos filled with message of support, love and hope for cancer patients and survivors. They also were given the opportunity to create their own ceramic dominoes. Overall, the programme was well received by the participants.
