KanWork, UPM 17 January 2015. A programme on education and support was held by KanWork on 17 January 2015 (Saturday) at Dewan Pertanian, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The programme was a joint project between KanWork and LPPKN a government body for population and family development.
The objective of the programme is to increase the knowledge of cancer in general, increase the knowledge on recurring cancer, early symptoms, treatment and steps taken to prevent cancer. The programme was intended to give support to the cancer patients and their care givers.
There was about 100 people who attended this programme. Those who attended are the cancer patients, the survivors, caregivers the health professionals (doctors & nurses) cancer volunteers and the general public that have interest in cancer. Dr. Rosliah Harun also attended the programme. She is the Deputy Director of Human Reproduction Department, LPPKN representing the director.
The talk entitled "Breast cancer & Recurrence" was given by Dr. Azlina Firzah Abdul Aziz, Consultant Breast Surgeon from Hospital Pantai. After the talk, a support group session was done by Pn. Hamsiah a cancer volunteer.
